    Ⅰ Allegretto con pastorale

    Ⅱ La Valse

    Ⅲ Scherzo

    Ⅳ Finale

    [Dedication]

    [Commission]

    [Program Note]

The first movement is a sonata form, starting with plaintive, pastoral melodies, harmonized with strings smoothly, and it is led to the secondary theme, which proceeds polyphonically and has a persistent characteristic. It naturally ends after passing the cannon style climax. The second movement, La Valse, starts with a waltz-like intro, and depicts a grieved, but beautiful tragedy. The waltz suddenly gets fierce, changes to be passionate, instantaneously reaches to the climax, and switches to a calm, lyrical scene again.

The music, which gradually dies down, awakes through the waltz again. In the third movement, I have used complex, but amusing rhythms freely (Vivace con Spirito). The light, delightful rhythms and harmonic structures in the first intro advance to the fourth movement, contrasting with the strong, powerful second part notably. The first intro of the fourth movement starts with a cello solo, and it is varied as it develops to a short chaconne. A theme of the first fugue is played by a viola after then (Molto Allegro). The first fugue is connected to the Barcarolle, and it ends as it develops to the mighty second fugue after passing a short minuet.
