[Program Note]

The Violin Sonata No. 2 is a work composed in 5 years after the Sonata No.1 in 2009. The unique hues of the composer, developed with a stable form and a poetic style by Cello Sonata, Sonata for Clarinet, was ultimately completed with this work. The first movement has a traditional sonata form and it begins with a distinctive violin on top of the piano chords and gentle arpeggios. A variety of rhythm of the dances is used and, in particular, the contrast of violin is effectively arranged. The second movement is a fast scherzo movement and piano’s major two line dissonant chords constitute a symbolic subject like a cluster and the violin is played only in pizzicato. The third movement is the 'Barcarolle' and it sings the poetic beauty of boatman’s song. The last finale is fast Allegro and impressive themes and a variety of rhythmic variations are attempted.
